[C]hildren at Moor Row Community Primary School had a royal visit last Friday, 14th July from Cinderella and Ariel. The princesses, from Darling Manor in Whitehaven, came to surprise the children for an interactive story time.
Darling Manor ran a school Facebook competition to win a princess visit if their community got together and voted for that school. Moor Row School got more votes than any other in the Whitehaven and Workington area so were rewarded with a visit from not one but two princesses.
Natalie Holgate, who is a HLTA at the school and lives in the picturesque village of Moor Row, saw the competition and immediately urged staff and parents to get involved.
The response was amazing. Fiona Kennedy, year 1 and 2 teacher said “we were absolutely thrilled at the response to the request. We are very lucky to have such supporting families at the school and to be part of such a wonderful community who gets together and supports us to give the children such treats.”
Moor Row School is very proud to boast a broad and balanced curriculum. The staff all understand the importance of academic subjects but also embrace music, performing arts and sport as equally important in their own right to build children’s confidence and ability to work together. The school firmly believes visits such as these are not only a treat but add to that balance.
The school has achieved high SATS results again for the second year running. On top of this the year 1 children achieved amazing scores in their phonics screen.
After working so hard the children were delighted to have such a fantastic treat!
