[A] MAN facing multiple rape charges is due to go on trial later this year.
Christopher Paul Charlton, 45, appeared at Carlisle Crown Court earlier today (MON).
Over a video link from custody, Charlton pleaded not guilty to a total of nine charges which allege that he raped a female on separate occasions.
These allegations are said to relate to the Carlisle area.
He also denied a further charge which alleges sexual activity with a child aged under 16.
Charlton was told he will stand trial at the crown court on a date to be confirmed.
However, a provisional trial date was given as December 18, and it is estimated the hearing will last around four days.
In the meantime, Charlton, previously of Jubilee Road, Carlisle, was remanded in custody by Judge Peter Davies.
