[T]WO cousins who brutally attacked a man inside a Carlisle city centre bar were told by a judge: “You will be going to prison.”
Andrew Leitch Purves, 35, and 38-year-old Thomas McQueen Purves were given the warning when they appeared at the city’s crown court today (MON).
They each admitted causing Stephen Lowe grievous bodily harm with intent on April 15. It follows a late-night incident at Deja Vu, Botchergate, where Mr Lowe is said to have sustained a fractured eye socket, missing teeth and a gash to the back of his head.
Judge Peter Davies adjourned the case. He granted bail to Andrew Purves, of Newcraighall, and Thomas Purves, of Wallyford, both near Musselburgh. One condition states prohibits them from entering Carlisle other than to meet solicitors or attend court.
“You stay out of our town, do you understand?” said Judge Davies, who will pass sentence on September 1.
“You will be going to prison on that day.”
