Carlisle man charged with serious assault appears in court

A man has appeared at court after a 56-year-old man was found with serious injuries near to Gallagher’s on Botchergate, Carlisle.

Reece Darren Green, 24, of Fernlea Way, St Annes, Carlisle, appeared from custody at the City’s Magistrates Court, he is charged with an allegation of unlawfully and maliciously caused with intent to do him grievous bodily harm and alleged criminal damage to a door and frame.

Police at the scene

The victim remains in the Royal Victoria Infirmary, Newcastle, District Judge Gerald Chalk was told the victim is in a critical but stable condition.

No-plea was taken, Green was remanded into custody to appear on September 4 at Carlisle Crown Court.
