[A] MAN accused of a West Cumbria social club fraud will go on trial later this year.
Michael Roy Gerard Launders faced a single charge when he appeared at Carlisle Crown Court today (MON).
Launders, 53, pleaded not guilty to one allegation of fraud. This alleges that while occupying the role of treasurer at CMS social club, at Maryport, he “dishonestly abused that position by failing to keep proper records and making unauthorised withdrawals, thereby to make a gain for yourself”.
Having denied the allegation, Launders was told his trial is due to take place at the crown court in the week of November 6.
It is estimated the hearing will last around three days.
In the meantime Launders, of St Nicholas Avenue, Flimby, was granted bail by the judge, Recorder David Potter.
