[G]raham Lamont, Chief Executive of one of Cumbria’s leading accountancy firms, Lamont Pridmore, has been invited to join the prestigious Worshipful Company of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (WCCAEW).
Created in 1977 under a Royal Charter, the organisation is a Livery Company of the City of London, which supports charities and promotes the accountancy profession.
Each year it selects a limited number of leading lights in the industry to join its ranks and in recognition of his long career in the profession, Graham Lamont will take up membership with the Company. He will now take up the position of Freeman, which will permit him to become a Freeman of the City of London.
Speaking about his appointment, Graham Lamont said: “I feel truly honoured to be offered membership of this prestigious organisation and I look forward to working with other members to support the Company.
“I have spent the last several decades building our firm up from a single office to one of the region’s largest practices and a Top 100 practice in the UK, which is why this recognition means all the more to me.”
As a member, Graham will be invited to participate in the Company’s charitable activities, which regularly sees hundreds of thousands of pounds raised each year for good causes across the UK.
Chris Lamont, Partner at Lamont Pridmore, said: “On behalf of everyone at Lamont Pridmore, I would like to congratulate Graham on being admitted to the WCCAEW, it is a true reflection of his commitment and dedication to the industry in which we work.
“He has laboured tirelessly to improve best practice within the world of accountancy, lecturing widely to fellow chartered accountants on adding value to clients, worked on Institute working parties on the “Creating the Modern Profitable & Sustainable Practice” and helped with the development of numerous staff members at Lamont Pridmore, many of whom have subsequently gone on to have fantastic careers. I am sure he will be a valued member of this prestigious organisation.”
