Footballer seriously injured in Kirkby Stephen

[A] man has been flown to hospital after suffering a serious leg injury in Kirkby Stephen.

The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) were called at 4:30pm yesterday, Saturday 12 August.

A spokesman for GNAAS said: “A footballer, aged in his 30s suffered a significant leg injury which required immediate surgery.

“The North West Ambulance Service crew requested GNAAS support due to the severity of the injury.”

The man was flown to the James Cook hospital.
