Queen Elizabeth Grammar School students have once again produced a very impressive set of results at GCSE level.
Headteacher, Mr Paul Buckland, said: “There are many examples of outstanding successes across the cohort and the students should be very proud of their achievements.
“Worthy of particular note are the following: Noah Fallahi ( 1×9, 2×8 and 8A*), Naveen Joseph (including 1×9, 1×8 and 9A*), Ed Davies (3×9, 6A* and 2A), Jodie Gillan (including 1×9, 1×8, 7A*), Matthew McConkey ( 1×9, 1×8, 1×7, 1xA^, 5A* and 3A) and Meredith Millward (including 1×9, 7A, 1xA^ and 1A).
“The successes are all the more impressive given that this cohort has seen the most significant changes to assessment and examinations for many years, in English and mathematics in particular. With the unique nature of this set of results in mind, it would be premature for us to release any headline figures until such time as the DfE and our own teams have examined and checked the data and to allow time for remarks and other reviews to be completed. I would hope to be in a position to do this soon after the start of term, once the official checking exercise is completed.
“In the meantime we should focus on each of the students as individuals who will have a lot to celebrate and the prospect of a bright future ahead of them. Those going into further education, apprenticeships or employment now have strong foundations upon which to build.”
