[F]amilies can enjoy galactic-sized fun every day to September 4 and then at weekends to October 1, by heading to the Lakeland Maze Park at Sedgwick near Kendal, where the fastest ship in the galaxy – the Millennium Falcon – is revelling in a 40th anniversary summer like no other, as part of a ‘Baah Wars’ extravaganza.
The Millennium Falcon is lying low in the tall crop of maize, ready to entertain everyone who wishes to come aboard, as long as they are not Imperial spies!
Both Han Solo and Chewbacca are guarding their precious vessel, which only those with Jedi powers can detect to be cut out of the maize.
The farm park’s own team of Jedis is asking families to try to break the menace of the ‘Bark Side’, by entering ‘The Falcon’ and solving clues A to K, hidden in the maze, to compile a code on their Imperial Tracker chart. This challenge will test the wits and generate fun for 1.5 to 2 hours and result in much satisfaction, it will.
Meanwhile, aspiring younger Jedis can have fun tracking down some troublesome missing droids, which have managed to lose themselves in the mini-maze.
The fun doesn’t stop there. Visitors can enjoy Meet the Ferrets experiences at 11.30am and 4.15pm, Meet the Pets between 12 noon and 3.45pm, tractor rides (2pm to 4pm with the last one leaving at 3.45pm), Groom the Pony (3pm) and general play with a trampoline, sand pit, playroom with giant Lego, bouncy slide, pedal tractors and didi cars. In wet weather, there may also be climbing wall games.
They can also try to guess the name of one of the farm’s rabbits, by answering questions and unscrambling letters.
The Baah Wars day out costs 7.95 for an adult, £5.95 for seniors, and £6.95 for children aged over two. A family ticket for two adults and two children, or one adult and three children, costs £28. Opening times are from 10am to 6pm . For more information and to buy tickets, head to www.lakelandmaze.co.uk
The Lakeland Maze Park is not in a galaxy far, far away, but just off junction 36 of the M6.
