Cyclist critical after Finsthwaite crash

[A] cyclist suffered serious head injuries after coming off his bike in Finsthwaite last night (31 Aug).

The cyclist, a 48-year-old man from the Windermere area, was cycling near to Bobbin Mill in Finsthwaite when he came off his bike at around 9pm.

No other persons or vehicles are believed to have been involved.

Friends assisted the man at the scene until North West Ambulance arrived and transferred the cyclist to RLI Lancaster and on to Preston Royal Infirmary.

The cyclist’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening at this time.

Police closed the road for four hours whilst a collision investigation was commenced.

Anyone who witnessed the incident and has yet to come forward is asked to contact police referencing incident 239 of 31 August 2017.
