Man, 62, arrested in Wigton arson probe

[O]fficers investigating an incident in Wigton where a car and a van were alight have arrested a 62-year-old man.

The man, from the Wigton area, was arrested yesterday (5 Sept) on suspicion of conspiracy to commit arson with intent to endanger life.

He has been released under investigation.

Police were called at around 4.20am this morning (September 3rd) to reports of a car being vandalised and set on fire on Station Road, Wigton.

Officers attended and found a Vauxhall Astra and a van on fire.

Properties on Station Road were evacuated as a precaution, and the road, from the junction with King Street, was closed.

Officers are continuing to investigate and urge anyone with information about this incident to get in touch referencing incident 49 of 3 September 2017.
