[P]olice are appealing for witnesses following a distraction burglary in Thurstonfield, on 6th September between 11:45am and 1:30pm.
Three men wearing high-vis clothing and helmets attended an address in the village, and cut some trees. While the occupants were distracted one man has gone into the house and stolen cash, jewellery, and old coins, worth around £700.
Police are appealing to anyone who saw four men in a white long wheel base transit van, possibly with an orange light on top, in the area at the time of the offence.

Police would like to remind people of the dangers of cold callers, and urge people to follow the below advice:
- Never agree to have any work done by someone who is just passing by.
- Ensure your back door is locked if you are answering the front door to someone you don’t know.
- Watch out for anyone who says they’re in a hurry or it’s an emergency. Don’t let them pressure you. If in doubt, call a neighbour or friend or the police.
- If you think a bogus caller has been to your home, call the police immediately.
