[O]n the Weekend of Sat 30th Sept & Sun 1st October get your little grey cells at the ready and your poisoned pens filled to the brim with ink as the quirkiest crime festival in the UK will be making its debut in Morecambe.
Set in the auspicious surroundings of the Winter Gardens (most recently seen in BBC One’s adaptation of Agatha Christie’s ‘Witness for the Prosecution’) there will be panels and talks & trials and debates as over 30 authors and guests from around the globe gather to converse, consider and confabulate over crime in all its many facets.
The festival of felonies will also see Murder Mystery Events taking place in the iconic Art Deco Midland Hotel (Seen in the ‘Double Sin’ episode of Agatha Christie’s Poirot on ITV) and at Morecambe Library where a famous author has bit the dust – can you solve the crimes?
Famous faces attending the event include Sophie Hannah (who shot to fame with ‘The Monogram Murders’ specially commissioned by the Agatha Christie estate) and Simon Brett (famed author of four crime series including Blotto & Twinks and Mrs Pargeter). They will be on hand to discuss their work and sign copies.
There will also be a writing masterclass, held at Morecambe Library, hosted by distinguished author Leigh Russell. This will be the chance for budding crime writers to learn how to craft their storytelling and how to write and sell successful novels.
A full line up of guests and events is available on the website www.morecambecrimefest.co.uk where you can also book tickets for the events.
