[A] group of local fundraisers have raised more than £1, 200 to help the care, support and activities provided by Eden Valley Hospice.
On Saturday 24 June, Emma Holmes was joined by her friends and family as they completed the 20 mile Ullswater Way Walk. The scenic walk was special for all of the fundraisers as they raise money in memory of Thelma Richardson, who passed away in the Eden Valley Hospice in July 2016.
The beautiful walk took the fundraisers through Pooley Bridge, Howtown, Patterdale and Glendridding as well as passing Watermillock Church, Swinburn Park and Aira Force.
The kindness and generosity of the group of fundraisers and their friends, family and community has helped to raised £1,295 in aid of Eden Valley Hospice. The money raised will help the local charity to provide the highest standards of care and support to local adults with life limiting illnesses. This care and compassion is extended to all of the patients’ family, friends and carers.
Year on year it costs Eden Valley Hospice and Jigsaw, Cumbria’s Children’s Hospice £3.7million to provide care, support and activities to local people with life limiting illnesses. Approximately 285 of the funding is received from the NHS with the remaining £2.7million raised by the kindness, support and generosity of the local community.
