Police appeal after woman sexually assaulted in Barrow

[P]olice are appealing for witnesses following an incident at around 00.50am Tuesday morning (19th September 2017).

The incident occurred on Roose Road, Barrow, near to the old St Luke’s Church. A woman was grabbed by a man as she walked past the old church and was sexually assaulted.

The victim, a 30-year-old woman, did not require hospital treatment and is being assisted by specialist officers.

DCI David Stalker said: “We have a number of detectives working hard to investigate this incident, and I would urge anyone who has any information that may help us bring the man responsible to justice to get in touch. If you were in the area at the time, and saw anything suspicious, or have any information, please let us know.”

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of sexual assault. The two men, aged 26 and 47 from south Cumbria, have been released under investigation.
