Woman, 81, seriously injured in Penrith

Police are investigating an incident that occurred at around 1:20pm yesterday afternoon (20th September) at Angel Lane, Penrith.

An 81-year-old woman has fallen to the ground and sustained serious head and facial injuries. She was taken to Cumberland Infirmary by ambulance.

Police are investigating how the woman sustained the injuries, and reports that her handbag was removed by a woman in the area.

Anyone who has any information that may help the investigation is asked to call Cumbria Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
