Penrith gets back to writing

[P]enrith Writers is a recently established self-led group of people interested in creative writing, who get together with the aim of sharing work and helping each other improve. They have taken a break over the summer but are now back and looking for more members.

The group is open to anyone interested in writing, at whatever level. The sessions are free, but members need to be willing to take an active role by sharing their work, giving constructive feedback to others, and leading occasional activities.

During the two hour evening meetings, members challenge each other to a writing exercise, sometimes discuss a weekly theme, and then spend time sharing their work.

The group is coordinated by Penrith resident Rebecca Neal. She said “There is no requirement for people to come every week so don’t let that put you off. We are a just keen to find some more people interested in writing, you don’t have to be experienced.”

Penrith Writers meet weekly on a Tuesday evening at the Dockray Hall pub, except on the fourth Tuesday of the month when Eden Arts’ Word Mess is on.
