[T]he University of Cumbria fanfare written by Professor Richard McGregor will mark the start of the latest event to mark the university’s tenth anniversary year tomorrow (Thurs 28.)
The magnificent setting of Carlisle Cathedral will play host to an anniversary service attended by students, staff and supporters of the university. The location is familiar as a venue for the twice yearly graduation ceremonies held to mark the successes and achievements of students.
A sermon by University of Cumbria chaplain Reverend Alexandra Logan will be followed by a blessing from the Dean of Carlisle, the Very Reverend Mark Boyling.
The university’s Vice Chancellor Prof Julie Mennell will speak at the event which will also feature a performance by the university’s choir, Voces UoC, conducted and arranged by professor of practice Graeme Danby.
A steel tree, designed by University of Cumbria alumnus and sculpture technician, Kenneth Waters will be unveiled to represent the university’s growth and development over the last decade and the breadth of academic provision delivered across all campuses.
