Woman flown to hospital after A591 crash

[A] woman has been flown to hospital after a two-vehicle road traffic collision occurred on the A591 near Ings.

Police were called at 3:10pm.

The A591 was closed in both directions between between the Mislet Brow turn-off and Ings turn-off.

A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 2:57pm firefighters were called to a report of a road traffic collision on the A591 at Ings, Kendal.

“One casualty, a woman, was trapped in a saloon car and was released by firefighters using specialist cutting equipment.

“The crews made the scene safe and the casualty air lifted to hospital.”

The road has now reopened.

Any witnesses are asked to call Cumbria Police on 101.
