[A]N EXCITING ARRAY of twilight activities can be enjoyed for free at The Beacon Museum throughout October.
The Whitehaven harbourside museum will be open until 8pm, every Thursday throughout October, and its weekly activities continue with a family-friendly table quiz, accompanied by a small bar, on October 12 at 6.30pm.
A ‘Meet the Curator’ session is on offer on October 19 where visitors can find out how the museum curatorial team preserves and archives local artefacts, with a chance to enjoy previously unseen items. Sessions will take place throughout the evening, times will be displayed on arrival from 5pm.
Local author and researcher Alan Cleaver will be delivering a terrifying talk on the Ghosts, Ghouls and Boggles of Whitehaven, on October 26 at 7pm. Bar facilities will be available at the event which is open to all the family.
Copeland Pass holders can enter the museum and participate in these events free of charge, but must pay admission to the feature exhibition Gladiators: A Cemetery of Secrets.
Alan Irwin, Business Development Manager at The Beacon Museum, said: “We are trying to open up the museum to new audiences and think that this is a great opportunity for families and adults to rediscover the museum at night, whilst having some fun in the process.”
“With the added draw of these events, it is an opportunity to get people exploring the museum as well.
“People have busy schedules and lifestyles, and it doesn’t always suit at weekends or during the day to take families to the museum.”
