[T]heatre by the Lake has announced that for the fourth year running it has won the award for Most Welcoming Theatre in the North West. It is one of 12 regional winners with the overall winner to be announced at UK Theatre Awards 2017 on Sunday 15 October.
The award, which is voted for by the public, is an opportunity for audiences to celebrate their local theatre. This year over 200 theatres competed for the coveted title.
Julian Bird, Chief Executive of UK Theatre, said: “Theatres play a vital role in communities across the UK, so it has been wonderful to see so many votes cast. This campaign brings together audiences, theatres, performers and producers and gives everyone the opportunity to celebrate their local venue.”
Conrad Lynch, Artistic Director and Chief Executive of Theatre by the Lake said: “We’re really thrilled to have received this award for the fourth year running. Thank you so much to everyone who voted for us; the support we get from our audiences is amazing and we are incredibly grateful. We’re also very grateful to our volunteers for all their hard work and dedication. This award is testament to the warm welcome that they and our front of house staff offer to everyone who comes through our doors, and to the hard work that all the staff here put into making this theatre such a special place.”
The annual UK Theatre Awards take place at London’s historic Guildhall. This year’s nominations demonstrate the breadth and depth of talent and achievement in theatre and the performing arts throughout the United Kingdom, on and off stage.
