[T]here was a loud ‘woof’ across the Cumbria Police Dog Section last night as the finalists of the Police Tweet Awards were announced.
The section’s twitter account – @policedogunit – made it to the final three of the Best Tweeting Dog Account category.
The winner will be announced on November 24th at a ceremony hosted by West Yorkshire Police.
Sergeant Stuart Woodward said: “This highlights the work that our department puts in to community engagement. We are keen to show the public just what we do to protect them and keep the county safe on a daily basis.
“Thank you to all those that took the time to vote for us in the Twitter awards and I personally wish all of the finalists the very best of luck in the awards ceremony in November.”
Cumbria’s Police and Crime Commissioner Peter McCall said: “Congratulations to the Police Dog Section for ‘leading’ the field to the finals! I think their Twitter account does a great job in demonstrating the diversity of the work that the police dogs do. Good luck as they track down the prizes!”
