Man, 80, arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after woman seriously injured in Kirkby Lonsdale

Police and other emergency services are currently dealing with an incident on New Road, Kirkby Lonsdale.

Police were called to a property at 7.49am to reports that a woman had been assaulted.

The woman, in her 70s, has suffered serious injuries and has been taken to the Royal Preston Hospital by air ambulance.

A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: “An  80-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder.

“A cordon has been placed outside the property while officers carry out enquiries.

“Dodgson Croft, from the A65 roundabout to New Road, has been closed.

“This is all the information we have at this time.

“Further information will be released once available.”
