[T]he Better Care Together Careers and Engagement Team are hosting a free recruitment event on Friday 3rd November 2017 at the Castle Green Hotel in Kendal, 9am – 3pm.
Numerous public sector organisations and the Army have teamed up to hold a careers and engagement fair with a difference. On the day there will be opportunity to apply for current vacancies, participate in practical sessions and engage with frontline employees.
The aim is to inspire our local communities to consider the health and social care sector as a future employer, and to provide them with information about the careers and development opportunities in our organisations.
Attendees will meet representatives from the various public sector organisations including NHS, Police, Fire service and the Army. The event will include practical workshops, clinical demonstrations, opportunities to speak to existing staff about various roles and find out more about qualifications and local education opportunities.
Vicky Lumley, BCT Careers and Engagement Lead, says “We’re really excited about this upcoming event. It’s our first large recruitment event in Kendal and we’re really looking forward to engaging and inspiring the local community.
“What makes the day really special is the practical sessions we have set up including a demonstration by the theatres team, a teaching session on blood pressure, and basic CPR [Cardiopulmonary resuscitation] and first aid training. This is also the first time that attendees at our recruitment events will be able to apply for vacancies on the day. It would be fantastic to have some vacancies filled as a direct result of this innovative approach.
“We hope that school groups will particularly benefit from the practical sessions, and pupils feel inspired by what they see and do. The focus of the event is to have hands on experience and learn from existing frontline colleagues.”
This event is a great opportunity for those just starting out on their career paths and for people looking to retrain or return to the health and care workforce.
The event is free and open to everyone aged 15 and over – school groups should contact [email protected] to book a group slot. For those travelling by car there is ample on-site parking.
