[T]hree people have been taken to hospital after a two-vehicle road traffic collision on the A596 at Flimby.
Police were called at 7.18am following a collision on St Helens Lane, Flimby.
The crash involved a VW Caddy and a Ford Focus.
There were five people in the Focus, a 52-year-old male driver from Cleator, a 52-year-old female from Cleator, a 52-year-old man, a 34-year-old man from Workington and a 21-year-old man.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “At 7:26am firefighters were called to Main Road, Flimby, after a road traffic collision.
“Fire crews used hydraulic cutting equipment to release three casualties who were in the same vehicle.
“They were then handed into the care of paramedics.”
A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: “Three people were taken to the West Cumberland Hospital with minor injuries.
“The driver of the Caddy, a 22-year-old man from Workington was uninjured.”
The road was closed at the Seaton junction and reopened at approximately 9am.
