[A]t 10:40am firefighters were called to wasteland near Marconi Road in Carlisle following reports of a World War I shell which is 2ft long.
A spokesman for Cumbria Fire and Rescue Service said: “Nearby premises have been evacuated.
“Police are in attendance and emergency services are awaiting for the EOD team to attend.”
Update: The shell was found to be a non-live, WWII replica device.
