[H]eavy rain expected is across Cumbria on Wednesday.
Flooding of a few properties is possible.
Spray and flooding on roads will probably make journey times longer.
Bus and train services will also probably be affected with journey times taking longer.
A spokesman for the Met Office said: “Many places within the warning area will see 25-50 mm of rain, with around 100 mm possible over higher ground.
“The heavy rain is likely to clear eastwards during Wednesday evening.
“There remains some uncertainty with regards to the exact location of the heaviest rain.”
A spokesman for the Environment Agency said: “With 36 to 48 hours still to go before the onset of the rain there remains some doubt as to the exact timings. At the moment the rain is forecast to start around breakfast time Wednesday morning and then continue through until around mid-evening before moving off to the east.
“Although the forecast is only low confidence at the moment, widespread rainfall totals of 50-80mm could be reached, with 100 -150mm possible over high ground.
“We currently expect to issue widespread Flood Alerts as catchments react to this rainfall. We also expect that several Flood Warnings will be issued later on during Wednesday, however at this stage we cannot be more specific about the Areas these will be required for. We will be updating this message with more detailed information tomorrow once we have an updated forecast.
“Environment Agency staff are continuing to monitor river and lake levels and we also have staff out on the ground checking assets, removing any blockages from watercourses and clearing debris screens prior to the rainfall.
