[H]ospice at Home Carlisle and North Lakeland have received the support of cookery writer and former nurse Belinda Hill during their special 20th Anniversary Year.
Belinda Hill, who lives at Winderwath, Temple Sowerby, has produced a wonderful ‘At Home in Cumbria’ cookery book. The book includes over 100 recipes, many which have been created using products from local food producers and growers. Within the book you will find a recipe to suit every occasion as well as recipes gifted by volunteers and supporters of Hospice at Home.
In the ‘Tea and Sympathy’ section of the book you will find a range of recipes designed to comfort a loved one during a difficult time. The delicious Honey Cake with Frosting or Wink’s Coffee Morning Scones are sure to provide a moment of pleasure during a tough day.
Recipes within the ‘Tasty Morsels for Smaller Appetites’ chapter offer ideas for supporting ill people at home. The dishes in this section are small, nourishing and delicious and can be prepared or semi-prepared for the freezer, so you have it to hand whenever it is fancied. Recipes such as Eggs in Pots with Smoked Salmon or Chicken Soup for the Soul are very tasty but surprisingly simple.
Bridget McDonald, a fundraiser for the Charity said “We would like to thank Belinda Hill for her outstanding support and dedication during our special 20th Anniversary Year”. Bridget added “This book contains a recipe for every occasion small or large, making it a fantastic Christmas present. They are available from www.hospiceathome.co.uk or alternatively, you can call the Fundraising Office on 01768 210719 or visit our shops in Carlisle and Penrith. Books will also be sold at Hospice at Home events. Every penny raised from the sale of a book will go to Hospice at Home”.
The Hospice at Home service covers 1500 square miles from the Scottish Border to Stainmore and Allonby to Alston. The charity is vital and needs to raise £20,000 each week to continue to provide this service.
