The Great North Air Ambulance Service (GNAAS) was called at 8.30am today to Workington where a man aged in his 80’s was taken critically ill at home.

A spokesman for GNAAS said: “He was placed into an induced coma by the aircrew medics, working alongside a team from the North West Ambulance Service.
