[H]undreds of pupils from across South Cumbria experienced life as a Furness College student yesterday.
Prospective students and their parents toured the college’s £47m campus at Channelside during the college’s annual Open Evening.
Specialist tutors and learners from all curriculum areas including engineering, construction, catering, hair and beauty, and sports were on hand to give expert advice on the full- and part-time courses and apprenticeships on offer.
Principal and Chief Executive of Furness College Andrew Wren was thrilled to welcome future students to Furness College.
He said: “It’s a very exciting time to be joining Furness College.
“Our award-winning teaching staff were pleased to welcome pupils from across South Cumbria and advise them on their options as they take their next steps to a Professional/Technical qualification or an apprenticeship.
“We have the biggest range of courses in Cumbria, so we know there is a place for every student at Furness College and a programme to help them achieve their dream career.
“It was fantastic to see so many future Furness College students experiencing our world-class facilities and finding out about the many opportunities available to them at our Channelside campus.”
At the event, tutors and current students gave live demonstrations and advice on progression routes.
Visitors were able to tour facilities including a restaurant-standard catering suite, hairdressing and barbering salon, engineering and construction workshops and sports facilities including gym, sports hall and 3G pitch.
The event at Channelside follows a successful Open Evening at Furness College’s specialist sixth form campus at Rating Lane earlier this month.
On Wednesday 15th November, hundreds of future sixth formers enjoyed a taste of college life at Barrow Sixth Form College and found out more about the A Levels and Cambridge Technicals on offer in over 25 different subjects.
