[B]BC Award-winning Demon Barbers folk band and Breaking Tradition Dance Company return to Keswick’s Theatre by the Lake on Sunday 17 December at 7.30pm with The Lock In ‘Christmas Carol’. The festive fusion of live music, song and dance will feature familiar faces Marley and Scrooge – but as you’ve never seen them before.
Set on Christmas Eve, ‘The Regulars’ of The Olde Fighting Cocks pub are getting excited about a promising night ahead, it’s going to be the Folk and Hip Hop party of the year! But to their dismay panto landlady, Jasmineezer Scrooge has more profitable ambitions, preparing to launch her new business the ‘Oompah Techno Bar’.
In danger of alienating the local community and ruining Christmas with cheap alcopops and mind-numbing bass beats, Damien Marley, with the help of comic ghosts from Christmas past, present and future, step in to lead her back to her senses and melt her miserly heart.
‘Guaranteed to raise weary spirits and send an audience home smiling’ according to The Telegraph, ‘Christmas Carol’ by The Demon Barbers has everything you would expect from this electric folk troupe, celebrating over 15 years of their unique mayhem with this new seasonal UK tour.
Prepare for hilarity as macho pub bouncers dance the Morris, b-boys flirt with clog girls and ‘The Regulars’ sword dance using candy canes all to a backdrop of English folk music fused with Hip Hop, House, Funk and Ska. This roof-raising night out will bring blazing energy and infectious humour to a traditional Dickens classic and is a perfect Christmas treat for music-lovers.
Tickets are from £15 to £18; U16s £10 and can be booked online at theatrebythelake.com or through the Box Office on 017687 74411.
