[A] MAN has been handed a suspended prison term for possessing indecent photographs of children.
Tobias Allan Kirkbride, 35, was sentenced at Carlisle Crown Court today (TUES) having pleaded guilty to five offences.
Four of these related to the making and possession of 15 indecent still photographs of children – two classed in category A, the most serious, two in category B and the remainder in category C. Kirkbride also admitted possessing one prohibited image of a child.
These were found after police executed a warrant at Kirkbride’s address in May, and seizures devices which were analysed.
The court heard that when interviewed by police, Kirkbride “described no sexual interest in children”.
Kirkbride, of Wood Street, Maryport, was a man of previous good character, the court heard.
After considering background information, Judge Peter Hughes QC suspended a four-month jail term for two years. Kirkbride must complete 150 hours’ unpaid work, undergo rehabilitation and one-to-one supervision.
He must also sign the sex offenders’ register, and follow the terms of a sexual harm prevention order, both for 10 years.
