[T]oday students from Inglewood Junior School in Carlisle visited Central Academy to explore science in a Hogwarts themed potions academy.
Ellie Hatt, Head of Science at Central Academy said: “Holding a child’s interest is key to academic success. I was delighted to welcome pupils from Inglewood Junior School and help them on their topic ‘Hogwarts Potions Academy’. The children had a great time.”
The children have been working on a range of Harry Potter themed activities this term including creative writing and science. The visit to Central Academy gave the children the opportunity to explore some science principles which they wouldn’t have been able to do in a primary school setting.
Georgina Cregan, Class Teacher at Inglewood Junior School said: “Our pupils really enjoyed the opportunity to work in a real science laboratory. The experiments were fun and engaging and gave students the chance to conduct experiments as part of their topic this term. Many of our students will move on to Central Academy, and this gave them a chance to see what life is like at secondary school.”
Central Academy works with primary schools in Carlisle to give younger pupils the opportunity to sample a day in the life in a secondary school and give them access to a more advanced learning environment.
