[T]he Cumbrian half of The Hairy Bikers, Dave Myers, has been announced as host for the second year running for the Cumbria Family Business Awards which take place in Carlisle on Friday 9th March 2018. Event organiser Sue Howorth explains why Dave was chosen to host the evening again.
“Dave is a true Cumbrian and really understands the people and businesses that make the county tick. He’s also a warm, funny and friendly addition to the night itself and after March’s stellar performance and the incredible feedback we had about him we would be mad not to have invited him back!”
Dave Myers added “I’m really looking forward to hosting the Cumbria Family Business Awards again. The awards are a brilliant initiative, Cumbria is full of innovative people and family run businesses are truly at the heart of Cumbrian communities. And of course, it’s always nice to be back in my home county and amongst people that help make Cumbria the vibrant place it is.”
The second Cumbria Family Business Awards are open for applications until midnight 19th January. Family businesses of all ages and sizes are encouraged to apply. The awards trended nationally on Twitter during the March 2017 ceremony and the organisers are hoping to achieve the same again for 2018.
Co-event organiser Sophia Newton discussed the impact of this social media reach “For us the whole aim of the Cumbria Family Business Awards was to shine a light on the vital contribution family businesses make to have engagement and reach of over 80,000 was a phenomenal achievement. In 2017 we were second only to the England rugby match, I’ve checked, and England are playing earlier on 9th March 2018 so nothing is impossible for next year’s event! It would be marvellous for Cumbrian Family Businesses to be the most talked about thing that day.”
