[T]uesday evening saw the start of this years Christmas festivities with carols and Mulled Wine at St Bees RNLI lifeboat station. The Whitehaven Brass Band and St Bees Primary School choir provided the musical entertainment.
The evening began with Santa setting off from the top of the village, along with his elves. They then made their way to the beach, handing out sweets as they went, stopping on the way to help turn the village Christmas tree lights on.
The concert started with an introduction by St Bees RNLI Operations Manager Dick Beddows, who thanked the St Bees Guild for their fundraising throughout the year and St Bees School for the loan of all the chairs. After a brief story about one of the more eventful call outs over the last twelve months Dick handed over to Whitehaven Brass Band.
There was a varied selection of carols from both the brass band and the children of St Bees Primary School choir with the audience given plenty of opportunity to join in as well.
During the interval the St Bees Guild drew the raffle and gave out the prizes to the lucky winners while members of the crew handed round mulled wine, mince pies and a selection of cakes.
Dick Beddows closed the evening by thanking everyone for their generous support and on behalf of all the volunteers wished everyone a happy Christmas and a safe New Year.
