Man admits wounding and assault charges after incident in Whitehaven

[A] MAN will be sentenced next month after he admitted unlawful wounding and assault offences arising out of an incident in Whitehaven.

Jonathan Ian Corlett, 36, faced two charges when he appeared in front of Judge Peter Hughes QC at Carlisle Crown Court today (WED).

Corlett pleaded guilty both to unlawfully wounding Ronald Acton and also to a common assault on Joanne O’Fee.

Both crimes are said to have occurred on November 20.

Judge Hughes adjourned the case and directed that a pre-sentence should be prepared by the probation service.

Corlett was bailed to an address at Aldby Street, Cleator Moor, and is due to be sentenced by a judge at the crown court on January 10.
