Man hit by train at Whitehaven station

[A] man has been taken to hospital after being struck by a train at Whitehaven railway station.

A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “Our officers were called to Whitehaven railway station at around 7.20pm on Tuesday, 12 December, after a report that a person had been struck by a train.

“Cumbria Police, as well as colleagues from the fire and ambulance service, also attended.

“The man, aged in his 50s, was treated at the scene before being transferred to hospital. His injuries are not believed to be life threatening.

“We are not currently treating the incident as suspicious.”
