[B]arrow audio visual specialist Gary Searle, director of Park Road’s Searle Audio, has switched on his business to supporting Bay Hospitals Charity’s Bayb’s Maternity Appeal!
Gary has gifted a £450, 32 inch flat screen smart TV to the appeal. It will go into one of the birthing suites within the soon to open new maternity unit at Furness General Hospital.
The unit will have 14 birthing suites, all en suite and each with its own wall-mounted TV. When a labouring mum is admitted to the unit, she will be assigned one of the suites to deliver her baby and will keep that same room until she and her newborn are ready to go home.
Heidi Bowron, Bayb’s appeal co-ordinator, said: “We are extremely grateful to Gary for this gift. Gary’s business is very well known in town and is one of a number of local companies now coming forward to support the appeal in a show of real community spirit.”
The Bayb’s Maternity Appeal launched in February and is now just £75,000 short of achieving its £250,000 target by the end of the next financial year (March 31st 2018).
Bayb’s is funding “extras” for the new maternity unit being built at Furness General Hospital. These ”extras” fall outside the remit of what the NHS is able to fund but have been added to a shopping list of items, all designed to make the unit second to none in the country while giving it a real home from home feel for local families and for newborns, the best possible start in life.
