Free festive parking in Copeland

[C]HRISTMAS shoppers in Copeland can enjoy free parking this festive period thanks to Copeland Borough Council.

The Council has announced that from December 23 to January 1 (inclusive) it will be free to park at the nine car parks that it operates.

This includes: School House Lane, Senhouse Street, Whitehaven Sports Centre, Copeland Centre (weekends only), The Beacon and North Shore (all Whitehaven); Chapel Street and Beck Green (both Egremont); and St Bees Foreshore.

Mike Starkie, Mayor of Copeland, said: “Our town centres have a great deal to offer people and we’re delighted to be supporting our business community by offering free parking throughout the borough.

“I hope that this gesture will encourage more people to visit our towns, use our shops and restaurants or enjoy one of our tourist attractions this festive period.”
