[A] Penrith teenager has been charged with drink-driving after a tractor crashed into the side of a house.
The charge follows an incident in Calthwaite on January 1st 2018, where a tractor collided with the side of a property.
The driver allegedly fled the scene and was arrested approx 1.5 miles away.
A spokesman for Cumbria Police said: “Thomas Fawcett, 19, of Blencow, Penrith, was charged with driving while being over the legal limit of alcohol.
“No-one was injured in the incident.
“Fawcett is due to appear at Carlisle Magistrates’ Court on January 30th 2018.”
Home-owner, Greg Wilson of Church Cottage, Calthwaite said: “The wall which was struck was the bedroom wall of my 4-year-old son, who by some miracle was uninjured.
“The building has suffered some structural damage but largely unscathed due to its construction.
“If it had crashed 3 or 4 feet sooner then I fear that my son may have been seriously hurt or killed as a result of it hitting an area of the wall more susceptible to structural damage.
“We feel so lucky as no-one was injured.”
