[A] WOMAN who alleges she was repeatedly and violently assaulted by her partner was seen “bruised” and “swollen” at work, jurors have heard.
Andrzej Fijalkowski, 35, is on trial at Carlisle Crown Court. He denies one charge which alleges his use of controlling or coercive behaviour during a 19-month period while living with his then girlfriend in Penrith.
Fijalkowski, of the town’s Pategill Road, further denies four alleged assaults on his now ex-partner – three of which are said to have caused her actual bodily harm.
Jurors have heard evidence from a work colleague of the female. The woman was said to have told the colleague that Fijalkowski – also known as Lucasz – “had hit her in the face”.
“Her eyes were all puffed up and bruised. Her nose was all swollen,” the colleague told jurors. “I proceeded to ask her what had happened. She said there had been arguments; things had escalated and that Lucasz had hit her.”
The trial continues.
