Ambleside teenager arrested after Broughton sex attack

Police are appealing for information following a serious sexual assault that was reported to police on Monday, 1st January 2018.

The assault occurred in Wilson Park, Broughton-in-Furness, near to the Square, following the town’s annual New Years firework display.

An 18-year-old man, from Ambleside, was arrested on suspicion of rape, he has been released on conditional bail pending further enquiries.

Police are keen to speak with the owner of a drone, which flew over the square at around midnight, on New Years day, filming the fireworks display.
