[Y]oung gymnasts from Furness Gymnastics Club have had volunteers working for Bay Hospitals Charity’s Bayb’s Maternity Appeal turning somersaults after presenting them with a £66.30 donation!
The money was raised when around 190 gymnasts and their coaches decided to host fancy dress training sessions in the run up to Christmas to give the appeal a boost.
Their gift will be added to the £175,000 already raised by the appeal, which is working to ensure that the new maternity unit at Furness General Hospital, which is scheduled to officially open next month, will be second to none. The appeal is equipping the unit with “extras” that fall outside the remit of what the NHS is able to fund but will ensure a level of clinical safety and comfort designed to make the hospital one of the best places to have a baby in the whole of the country.
