[A] man from West Cumbria has appeared at North and West Cumbria Magistrates Court in Carlisle charged with attempting to meet a girl under 16-years-of-age, to allegedly have sex with her on April 26, 2017.
Brian Turnbull, 60, of St Mungos Park, Aspatria, entered no plea to the allegation.
During a short hearing the allegation shown on court papers said: on one or more occasions met or communicated with a 13-year-old girl, not reasonably believing she was aged 16 or over, attempted to meet her and intended to do something to or in respect of her during or after the meeting, which, if done, would have involved the commission of a relevant offence defined under the Sexual Offences Act 2003, allegedly have sex with her.
The case was sent to be heard at Carlisle Crown Court on February 16, bail was granted.
