[A] Barrow woman has today been jailed for 28 months following a proactive warrant by South Cumbria Drug Squad.
Tina Phillips, aged 48, of Raglan Court, was sentenced today (18th January) at Preston Crown Court.
Phillips was arrested on 3rd November 2017 when officers, who were about to conduct a warrant at her home address, witnessed her speaking to two people that were known drug users.
It was suspected that Phillips was about to supply the persons with drugs. Officers found Phillips to be in possession of 32 knotted parcels of cocaine and 54 knotted parcels of heroin. Each parcel was estimated to be worth a street value of £10.
Phillips pleaded guilty to two counts of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
A spokesperson for the South Cumbria Drugs Squad said: “Today’s sentencing is another example of how robustly police and courts deal with those who look to supply drugs within the local community.
“Phillips told police during her interview that she was instructed to supply the drugs. This case highlights the dangers of becoming involved in this form of organised crime. If you deal drugs you can expect to be brought before the courts.
“Drug supply has a negative effect on the community and the South Cumbria Drug Squad will continue to target both individuals and groups who believe they can supply drugs in the local area. We will use all legislation open to us to make sure drugs are recovered and persons are brought to justice.”
Anyone with information on drug supply can contact Cumbria Police on 101 or anonymously, via Crimestoppers, on 0800 555 111.
