[P]enrith AFC Ladies found themselves frustrated by a well organised and hard working Workington team. In the end they had to settle for a point which keeps their unbeaten league record alive.
Penrith had a golden chance to open the scoring in the 5th minute when Kim McCormick’s free kick was headed goal wards by Youngster Livvy Johnson. Workington keeper Laura Miller parried the effort and a goalmouth scramble ensued but somehow the ball stayed out of the net.
Penrith would regret this missed opportunity as clear cut chances were hard to come by for either team for the remainder of the game.
On 70 mins Livvy Johnston’s effort from distance rattled the cross bar but Workington defended resolutely and claimed a deserved point.
This Sunday Penrith travel to City of Liverpool Ladies for a League Plate tie.
