Man charged with three offences following Workington arrest

A member of the public detains Bell until police arrive

[C]umbria Police have charged a man today (24 Jan) with three offences after officers were called to an incident on Fisher Street in Workington yesterday.

Andrew Bell, 34, of Fisher Street, Workington, has been charged with:

  • Assault by beating
  • A public order offence*
  • Taking a child as to remove them from a person having lawful control

Officers were called to Fisher Street at around 12.05pm following a report of an assault. Bell was swiftly arrested at the scene.

He is due to appear before Workington Magistrates’ Court this morning.

*Use threatening/abusive/insulting words/behaviour with intent to cause fear of/invoke unlawful violence
