[A] man has appeared in court after reports that officers from Cumbria Roads Policing Unit were amazed when they were confronted with a large green tractor parked on the road in the Crescent, Carlisle in the early hours of Christmas eve last year, they were even more surprised to find the tractor driver was so desperate to satisfy his craving for a pizza, he had allegedly driven into the city.
Luke Cockburn, 26, lives in the village of Little Orton a few miles west of the city.
Cockburn is alleged to have failed a road-side breathalyser test and was arrested and taken to the police station at Durranhill, court papers show he gave a further breath sample which was allegedly over the prescribed alcohol limit, the legal limit is 35.
He was charged with drink-driving, when he appeared at the Magistrates Court he pleaded not-guilty to the allegation of driving a vehicle while above the legal alcohol limit.
