Penrith woman admits M6 speeding offence

[A] worker from the Tebay services on the M6 motorway has pleaded guilty to a speeding offence from last year, when she appeared before Carlisle Magistrates Court.

The court was told how Ruth Elizabeth Alice Hiscoke, 29, of Graham Street, Penrith, was driving her Peugeot car on the morning of July 20 around 7.41am, when she was clocked doing 96mph on the southbound carriageway near Capplerigg, the legal speed limit is 70.

She told the court she needs her licence to carry out her work, as she works at the Tebay service station and travels to other sites further south, she knows she was in the wrong and since the offences has been very – very careful.

Magistrates fined her £230 with court costs of £115, and added five-penalty-points to her previously clean licence.
