Man jailed for punching two women unconscious in Whitehaven bar

Carlisle Crown Court

[A] MAN who knocked two women unconscious with powerful single punches inside a Whitehaven nightclub has been jailed.

Details of Lee Gareth Park’s shocking attacks emerged at Carlisle Crown Court after he admitted two crimes. The 37-year-old pleaded guilty to assaulting customer Michelle Frazer and also bar supervisor Stephanie Moffat, causing both actual bodily harm, in the early hours of December 23.

Park’s unprovoked violence erupted in TJ’s bar after an unrelated “commotion” involving another female. Park punched Miss Frazer in the face, causing her to fall unconscious to the ground and resulting in serious injury to her front teeth. He then inflicted the same punishment on Ms Moffat, who was also knocked out while trying to intervene.

Miss Frazer had since spoken of pain and ongoing distress following an incident which, a prosecutor said, “is going to affect her for the rest of her life”.

Park, of Chapel Terrace, Thornhill, Egremont, was said by his barrister to have shown “genuine remorse”.

He was jailed for a total of 12 months by Judge James Adkin, and also banned by a restraining order from contacting Miss Frazer in any way for two years.
